After completing his education in the United States, Nidhey A Pan gained hands-on experience in various new ventures for his family’s business diversification plans. For the young entrepreneur, business wasn’t just work; it was a hobby. So it was no surprise that he decided to launch his own tech-tech furniture and home decor startup InnoDesigns in 2020.

“It all started when I was fitting out my new house. I saw so many gaps and loops that needed to be filled. Whether it is a small house, an economic house or a big house, all of them face the same problems such as delivery time, lack of good quality products, limited variety, worries of cost at different levels and different percentages. I was wondering if the gaps could be filled and if the process could be simplified,” says the founder and CEO of the Rajkot-based startup.

InnoDesigns aspires to disrupt the online furniture market by creating a technological interface where realistic visualization of all furniture and its proper placement in a home in real time is possible.

How it works

While brainstorming with core team members, Nidhey noticed that small furniture sellers were massively underrepresented in the country. To that end, the team decided to bring local furniture stores closer to their virtual shoppers through their #VOCALforLOCAL and #MadeInIndia initiatives.

“InnoDesigns offers a diverse selection of classic, modern and stylish home furniture, furnishings and décor. We started out as a pure marketplace model. We help local artisans and makers run their own showroom who otherwise cannot afford huge marketing expenses, who are unable to meet the right market, who are unable to go to market due to lack of knowledge and large competitors in space,” says Nidhey.

InnoDesigns uses AI to understand its customer and help them choose the right piece of furniture. Whether it’s fabric, size, wood, the platform offers customizations of all kinds. By simply logging into the website, customers can select samples to be delivered to their doorstep. Once they have decided on the fabric color or style, they can return the swatches and the team will customize to the chosen design.

The startup is also launching bedroom designs to help customers choose their entire home. “We are constantly working on adding more exciting features every day, with the goal of creating a one-of-a-kind platform,” says Nidhey.

Overcome Challenges

Despite having a vision for his brand, the new-age entrepreneur struggled to find the right talent and convince people to believe in his idea. “For us, in the area of ​​design technology, augmented reality and virtual reality are obsolete. So we rely on these technologies. We had to overcome multiple challenges through execution, development, convincing people and getting the right team on board,” he explains.

But the pandemic has changed the course of business. The online marketplace took center stage during the lockdown as customers wanted to shop online. InnoDesigns has offered great solutions for homeowners who want to give their home a facelift with unlimited designs and customization options, along with strict quality control parameters and reliable after-sales services.

In November 2021, InnoDesigns launched its Home Experience Center in the heart of Kochi. “We showcased our range collaboratively, integrating the offline touch experience with the online viewing and selling platform, through our e-commerce website and apps. This type of “Home Experience Center” is the first of its kind in the country. We call it – ‘Kutumbam’,” explains Nidhey.

Focus on local talent

As the platform promotes local talent and is part of the “Make in India” initiative, opting for a .in domain name for their website was obvious. “We promote local manufacturers and will proudly showcase our Indian furniture and Indian capabilities when introduced overseas,” Nidhey says, adding that there couldn’t have been a better way for companies to target locals. domestic business opportunities.

The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has helped hundreds of companies like InnoDesigns to stand out as a brand with its .in or .Bharat domain – which is India’s country code top-level domain (ccTLD). ‘India. It is one of the few Internet exchange points in the world to offer a ccTLD in several languages.

Speaking of the growing number of customers logging into the website daily, Nidhey says, “Customers are signing up and pre-selecting products. The .in domain has brought confidence to customers and with this new era of “swadeshi items”, customers are happy and more confident in the quality of their products and services.

The path to follow

InnoDesigns aims to be the one stop solution for any home furnishing product. “We are going to be present in almost every state in the country. We will grow aggressively over the next six months.
