Jhe creative founder of Candy Shack Daiquiris, James McGhee, opens the doors to a unique speakeasy-style restaurant on Monda. Juliet looks like a movie theater upon entry, but past the candy counter and its transformations into a chic all-American restaurant tucked away in a Houston strip mall a few blocks west of The Galleria.

Arrivals at 5857 Westheimer might be confused by the compelling cinema entrance with marquee and ticket office. The title “Now Showing Juliet” reveals the restaurant’s name while the overall design reflects McGhee’s fascination with movies.

“The theme for the movie is inspired by my love of movies,” says McGhee. “I consider myself a movie buff.”

Arrivals at the restaurant will pass through a mock theater lobby dressed in counters and frequented by shop assistants where popcorn and candy will be sold. Passing through a heavy curtain, the atmosphere transforms into a sophisticated restaurant setting with gilded decor and photos of iconic movie scenes from across the decades. Collaborative Projects has transformed the former Indian restaurant into McGhee’s version of a speakeasy that embraces gold not only in decor but also in menu.

Juliet’s 34-ounce USDA Prime gold tomahawk rib eye wrapped in 24-karat gold foil, nicknamed The Golden Star, is the highlight of the golden menu and weighs in at $325. Expanding on over-the-top gold influences, The Godfather cocktail with a gold leaf garnish.

“I wanted to include a unique cocktail menu here at Juliet, drinks named after popular movies to go along with the theme,” McGhee said. PaperCity. “The Godfather is made with premium Hennessy XO and century-old Grand Marnier as well as other spirits and topped with a wheel of candied orange dipped in dark chocolate and gold leaf.

“Tip, if you want to upgrade more, we offer Hennessy Paradis for $100.”

The menu is presented with movie classifications such as “Previews”, which is an assortment of appetizers. The entries are listed under “The Main Event” while the sides are labeled “Co-stars.” As for the desserts, they are listed under “Credits”.

Varied offerings include roasted Brussels sprouts, crispy Korean rib tacos, double-cut smoked pork chop, honey-truffled chicken, and fried lobster tails.

Culinary Director, Chef Jeff Auld, created the menu while Pastry Chef Allison Thiessen created the dessert menu. Local cocktail specialists Laurie Harvey and Kris Sowell, owners of Ladies of Libations, have concocted the creative bar program which includes libations such as The Matinee Margarita made with Volcan Reposado tequila, Nixta Elote liqueur, citrus, hot corn salt and topped with caramel corn.

The bonus for diners here is the 2,200 square foot patio centered with an old live oak tree. There is also a VIP dining room with a private entrance and seating for up to 40 people.
