In recent years, impracticality has become a prerequisite for a handbag to achieve “it” status. We really tested the limits of how a mini bag can go – but also went into the totally opposite direction, to balance the scales. If you thought designers would be put off, you’re sorely mistaken: they’re always pushing the boundaries of what accessories can be and what will get influential buyers excited.
So don’t be surprised when Coperni’s glass (yes, glass) “bag” becomes a favorite for 2022’s most-wanted fashion item.
For fall 2022, the French fashion label presented a collaboration with Heven, a mouth-blown glass company founded by Breanna Box and Peter Dupont. Coperni asked the duo to make their best-selling Swipe bag — an oval-shaped accessory inspired by the iPhone’s “slide to unlock” feature that has become one of their most recognizable pieces — in glass.
In an interview with British vogueBox and Dupont said the co-founders of Coperni Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant contacted them via social networks. About a month into their collaboration at Paris Fashion Week, Coperni x Heven pulled off a pretty big publicity stunt: it was worn by three celebrities in less than a week.
Coperni’s glass bags made their red carpet debut on not one, but two stars at the same event: Doja Cat and Tinashe at the 2022 Grammys.

Doja Cat wore the blown glass Swipe Bag in a light to blue ombre that matched her custom Atelier Versace dress on the red carpet. When she donned her second Versace look of the night – a crystal-embellished blush dress – to accept her Grammy, she also swapped her blue Coperni bag for an all-transparent bag with devil horns.
Tinashe, meanwhile, accessorized her Grammys red carpet dress — a bubblegum pink GCDS number — with a Coperni x Heven glass bag, in red.
Then, on Wednesday, Kylie Jenner posted the devil horn bag to her Instagram, as part of an outfit she wore to promote her family’s upcoming Hulu series. Arguably, she also provided a service to shoppers curious about the practicality of the bag: her photo shows that it contains two Kylie Cosmetics lip products.
In an interview with identifier, Dupont made it clear that the marks were meant to make a product that you would actually use. “Our pieces always have functionality, and that’s one of the philosophies behind what we do with Heven,” he said. “This bag is functional: you can put your phone, your wallet in it.” Cox added that it can also function as a vase – or a weapon for protection.
It’s not yet known if us normals will be able to buy Coperni’s glass bags or what the prices might look like. For now, you can rewatch the Heven collaboration debut on the catwalk in the gallery below.
